When I was a teen my dad bought a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Briarwood. Yes, this this jeep had fake wood siding like the original west coast jeeps of the past. I got to drive it when I turned sixteen. I loved that car so much. Never had so much fun driving since. It stood out and all my friends thought it was the coolest thing ever. We dubbed it the "Woody Wagon" and spent many a night driving around in it. Anyone else have any good "First car stories?"

I am going to either repair my mothers car for her, loan her my VUE if we get an Outlook next year or see about buying her one.

She should not be driving and getting her to see that is not happening.

She is driving a 87 Old Cutlass Ciera and I think it is on its last legs.

old clunkers. Many that cost a couple hundred bucks or less. They even ran.

Can`t find stuff like that now for that kind of money. Even a crappy old car costs a thousand.

I won`t overly discuss my financial straits (or BuckFan will criticize me again) but my inherited `95 blazer is IT for now......

A paid for car is better than a car payment regardless of WHAT it is.

My first car was a 66 Mustang that I bought in late 70. Talk about stupid when I let my ex talk me into selling it. Oh well hind sight.

My favorite was a 67 Plymouth Fury III sport coupe Great car, six cylinder, over 23 mph on a trip to Florida.

Owned one other Ford product and it cost a fortune.

Had great luck with Cryslers over the years. The first new car was an 86 Plymouth Duster.

But, I am now a fan of Saturn, love my VUE. It is only my second new car.

I see nothing wrong with buying used, you can find some great cars still out there, if you are willing to look and know what to look for.

I have a great mechanic in Centerville that has worked on my last three cars. Trust him completely.

I guess, although my kids get my old Blazer when they get their licenses as opposed to me getting them something.

My first car was a `47 Jeep. I still have it but it hasn`t run for a while.

Yeah an old lead sled might be better but they`re getting hard to find.

A Geo Metro is just too dangerous in my book. Remember the Hondas with 12 inch wheels from the early `70s?

I`ve had a bunch of big old cars and a bunch of vans also.

I guess anything that gets you from point A to point B is a keeper if you`re on a budget (like me)

May I take exception to the older SUV's?

Do not some of them have a higher point of gravity and prone to turnovers?

Would not another type of vehicle be better?

I know the gas prices are ridiculous but I had a "lead sled" which is what older large cars were referred to in my "antique" years.

Just my opionon and yours would be?

and other old cars like them is that they weren`t built that great to begin with and most have had the life run out of them. Another problem is that it isn`t much car to have "around" you should an inexperienced driver be involved in an accident.

If you were going for something older I would suggest an old two-wheel drive SUV (smaller type). They were built a little better and are easy to get parts for.
